Our Team - Lois Lodge

DR LOIS H LODGE MB ChB, MSc, FFPHM

Dr Lois Lodge is a vocationally trained GP and consultant in public health medicine, with local, national and international military and medical experience, including peacekeeping. She is able to link apparently disparate policy initiatives into a purposeful whole, and translate policy context into meaningful local action between managers, clinicians, voluntary sector and the public. She is an expert in multi-agency needs assessment and has undertaken several projects for CAMHS Consultants.

On leaving the Army she joined a Regional Office of the NHS Executive, where she became deputy Regional Director of Public Health (RDPH), and later acting RDPH for the South East Region. In this senior civil service role she was active in the development and interpretation of national policy and in the local implementation of a range of government initiatives. She subsequently took up post as a consultant in public health medicine for a Health Authority, where she led the implementation of the National Service Framework for Older People, was public health lead for Children and Young People, and leader of a multidisciplinary public health team supporting an emergent Primary Care Trust. In January 2002 she launched an independent portfolio career. As an independent public health consultant she became an associate consultant with the Institute of Applied Health and Social Policy (IAHSP), facilitated the development of Public Health Networks in Surrey, West Sussex, and Surrey & Sussex, and has recently been working for two PCTs that have no Director of Public Health. In October 2003, Lois retired from being assistant deputy coroner for Surrey, after seven years in the role.
