CAMHS Consultants is an independent team of consultants with specialist expertise in services for children and young people who have emotional, behavioural and mental health problems. CAMHS Consultants has extensive experience of working at all levels in health and social care, the voluntary sector and in primary care.
Turning the rhetoric of government policy into practice and developing effective relationships across agency boundaries are presenting major challenges for everyone working in health and social services. CAMHS Consultants provides a specialised, independent consultancy service to organisations which have a stake in mental health services for children and young people. It believes that high quality services for children and young people cannot be provided by professionals who are not working in a healthy organisational environment. It is therefore committed to supporting processes of change which overcome organisational barriers and generate tangible improvements for children, their families and those who provide services for them. It has a consulting team from a variety of professional and agency backgrounds, which can support health, social care and voluntary sector professionals and organisations through this current period of intense activity and pressure for change.
CAMHS Consultants was established in August 2003 by the same team of consultants who previously worked for the Institute of Applied Health and Social Policy (IAHSP) within King’s College London. CAMHS Consultants continues the programme of work developed within IAHSP and builds on the expertise and experience of consultants who have been involved in a wide range of successful projects, large and small, over a number of years.
CAMHS Consultants bases its work on an initial analysis of what is needed, rather than using a standard formula or approach. It then selects the solution which is most likely to achieve the desired outcome or change in organisational behaviour.
