CAMHS Consultants has adapted option appraisal methodology to help clients, many of which are newly-formed Children’s Trusts, to decide on the most appropriate configuration for multi-agency CAMHS provision in their area. These projects involve a structured, time-limited process that involves as many stakeholders as possible (depending upon the time & resources available) to develop organisational options for future CAMHS provision, and the criteria against which to assess them. The process ends with an option appraisal event at which the options are scored collectively by a representative group of stakeholders, and the best solution determined. This can be done as a longer-term, inclusive process over a period of weeks, or in a concentrated one-day event. Our option appraisals have been extremely successful in resolving differences of approach and expectations among partners and without exception have achieved well-received outcomes.
